Two nights - not nearly enough time!
I stayed at the Second Wind country in November 3rd through November 5th 2017 I stayed at The Whimsy establishment Mark and Kelly were more than hospitable as they greeted me as I got into Ashland Wisconsin got me My key and situated in my room inside located was one bedroom a second room with a futon a dining room living room and kitchen at it was a very quaint home very beautiful and the decorum showed a lot of authenticity and thoughtfulness from the individuals who picked them out the bathroom was stocked with toilet paper towels soap and the kitchen was stocked with paper towel pots and pans Cutlery and glasses there was a microwave stove top oven and refrigerator the heating was great the views were beautiful and the home itself was quite clean and very well maintained
We enjoyed the peace and quiet. The Illick home is immaculate in every way.
The Innkeepers, Mark and Kelly, are amazing hosts! We felt so welcomed and really, really enjoyed getting to know them. They have great stories to tell! They even gave us recommendations for local places to check out, including a walk IN the river where the water is no more than a foot high. Favorite experience of our trip. Ask them about it next time you stay!
Kelly & Mark (owners) bend over backwards to make your time there as pleasant and relaxing as can be. The rooms are well taken care of == in fact, the whole place is immaculate. The breakfasts are BETTER than you get in a 5 star restaurant. The farm atmosphere is so de-stressing, it makes it very hard to go back home. Hay rides, sleigh rides, are available. Near Apostle Islands, and marinas for fishing. We stayed in the Bears Den, which meant NO STEPS -- which was great for my wife who has bad knees. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Second Wind Country Inn -- we will be back!!!
This was our groups first encounter with a B & B. We were a bit apprehensive not knowing what to expect. But I will say all 6 of us were pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed our suite (the Lumber Jack) and breakfast was outstanding. Through out our trip someone would often make reference to Second Wind saying the other places were not as nice, the food wasn't as good. I believe if any of us are back in the area we will definitely stay at Second Wind and we will be telling our friends. Thank you for making 6 B & B believers.
Second Wind is one of the most peaceful places you'll ever stay. The Inn is located on a quiet piece of land in the country, even though it's just a few minutes away from town.
The homemade breakfasts are amazing, and the entire atmosphere of the Inn is peaceful and relaxing. Rooms are impeccably clean and cozy, and the large windows let you take in the view of the land. We didn't want to leave! Can't wait to come back!
Mark and Kelly are wonderful hosts and impressive cooks. (great story tellers too)
We stayed in the Lumberjack Loft suite (full kitchen) which has great views of the farm and if you look closely enough, Lake Superior as well!
